The list that defined 2023.

This year I wanted to read more fiction and fantasy. So here are some of the highlights!

Mistborn

9/10 - Highly recommend.

A deviation from my typical non-fiction, this book opened my eyes to the world of fantasy in the Brandon Sanderson universe, or known as the Cosmere.

For anyone seeking a fantasy thriller, that follows universal laws; and reads like you are watching a movie, the Mistborn trilogy is your next stop.

Atomic Habits

9/10 - Highly Recommend

A new approach to improving or eliminating habits in your life.

I loved James Clear’s story about overcoming adversity through thoughtful dedication and commitment. This has been a catalyst for me to rediscovering non-negotiable habits that now serve as pillars in my day to day routine and thoughts.

Three Body Problem

7/10 - Recommend

Three Body Problem was gripping and exciting. I will admit, I didn’t finish the second book… however, that could have been primarily a result of the nature of my life at the time.

I thought this book was stimulating because of the fascinating story, and the highly descriptive scientific nature of the conflict.

An exciting read. If you liked The Martian, you will like this.

Golden Son

9/10 - Highly Recommend

I listened to this book while I ran, and I had to stop and process what I was listening to multiple times.

Exciting adventure, and easily could become one of the next big series. I would put up above Hunger Games, and maybe just below Harry Potter (I know… big claim).

Pierce Brown creates a beautiful and thrilling adventure, while tackling the challenges of race, discrimination, and much more in an eloquent and gripping story.
